Knock, Knock
Who's There?
Thanks to Sarah Faxon for another fab Flash Fiction Friday prompt. Today I went with another drabble.
Prompt: Your main character hears a knock at the door.
Knock, Knock.
The knock came at 3 a.m., sharp and deliberate. She froze. No one ever visited at this hour.
She opened the door to an empty porch. A silent street. A windless night.
The knock sounded again, this time from behind her.
She turned quickly. The hallway was empty, but the sound echoed from deeper inside the house. She followed it, her heart thundering in her ears, until she stepped into her bedroom.
The knocking stopped, sudden, absolute.
She exhaled, peering into the darkness.
Then, from inside the wardrobe, a voice whispered
“I’ve been waiting for you to open the door.”

Well done. I really enjoy Sarah Faxon's Flash Fiction Friday prompts and reading what others have done with it.
Aaaaah! That made me shudder. Great job!
